I love this time of the year. Warm days, cool nights, football, fires, soup, pumpkin lattes, colorful leaves, caramel apples, sweaters, pumpkins–everything about the fall is wonderful. Of course, this means I love decorating for fall too. And, as in past years, I wanted some new ideas to put a fresh look on my fall decor, especially out on the porch.

These beautiful photos from HomeGoods became my inspiration. These gorgeous possibilities were the perfect place to start when shopping to add a fall look to my front porch.

There’s so much you can do with lanterns, pumpkins, pillows, a throw and…

I tried to make all these elements work at my own house. I began by pulling boxes of fall decorations from the basement. I sorted through what I had, decided on what I needed and headed out to HomeGoods ready to style my porch using designer ideas and thoughts on how to make them my own.

A wreath! It’s my favorite autumn decoration. The colors are perfect, and I’m a huge fan of wheat, so I couldn’t resist adding it to my porch.

These white lanterns add a fresh crisp look that’s beautiful, and I’m a huge fan of pumpkins with a message. But white would get lost on my porch, so I went with brighter colors for my own layout.

We replaced a couple of distressed boxwoods with planters this year. They held summer flowers that recently faded; so I decided they’d be the perfect place for my welcoming pumpkins. I think they look perfect with the ivy. And I’m already thinking about what will work in that spot over the holidays.

There are so many things I love about this designer porch. It’s inviting, warm and reminds me of all things fall. And this is how I made it mine…

I took the basic idea of the products and accents I wanted, and used similar elements but with slightly different colors and shapes. You can do the same to create a lovely autumn porch.

Take designer ideas and carry them with you as you shop, but remember this is your space to express yourself. Embrace variation. It’s how you’ll shine.

How will you personalize your porch this year? What colors are fall must-haves for you? Share your ideas in the comments! I can’t wait to chat with you about my favorite time of the year.
