Whether you are hosting a book club, building team spirit at work, inviting a few neighbors over for a post trick-or-treat dessert night or just wanting to have some fun with the kids, a Halloween-inspired pie party is a simple way to celebrate the season that will be sure to impress.
I kept it super simple by using store-bought pies, added some quick and simple chocolate decoration to make them fun and fabulous, and I’ll be serving them up with some seasonal decor from HomeGoods.
Pumpkin pie is a logical choice for a Halloween pie base to decorate, but you could do this with any pudding pie or cheesecake base. I used dark chocolate wafers, but you could use white chocolate or other colored candy wafers as well.

In addition to the pumpkin pie, you’ll need:
-Chocolate candy wafers
-A microwave-safe glass bowl
-Parchment paper
-Cutting board
-Tape
-Black permanent ink marker
-Small tea or coffee spoon
-Wooden toothpicks
Step One: Using a piece of parchment paper, trace around the bottom of your pie plate with the permanent marker. Draw (or trace) the halloween motif you want to put on your pie. You can see below that I drew a jack o’lantern face for my first pie motif.

Step 2: Flip your parchment paper over and tape to a cutting board to ensure the paper stays flat and in place .
Step 3: Place about a dozen chocolate wafers into a microwave-safe glass bowl and heat the chocolate until melted. Stir with a small tea or coffee spoon until smooth.

Step 4: Spoon small amounts of the melted chocolate onto the parchment paper inside the lines of your design. You will want to work quickly with the melted chocolate as it doesn’t take long to harden.

Step 5: Using the spoon, spread the chocolate evenly to fill in your design using a wooden toothpick for the corners or harder to reach places. Remember, this is just for fun so don’t worry too much if you color a little outside the lines. You can always trim it with a sharp knife once it has hardened.

Step 6: Once the chocolate has hardened, you can lift the pieces of your design off the paper and place it where you want on your pie. Get your kids to help create the motifs and/or color them in with the chocolate.

Step 7: Set up a buffet table featuring your Halloween pies and some other seasonal decor and enjoy how impressed your guests will be.
